What - Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship
Where - Prospects College, Basildon
Who - Able and motivated 16-24 year olds, employed in the relevant industry sector who have already achieved a Level 2 apprenticeship in electrical engineering.
When - Students completing the apprenticeship programme attend on a day release basis over a period of up to 4 years.
WHAT DO I NEED?
A Level 2 apprenticeship in electrical engineering. You must also be employed in the industry of your chosen subject.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?
Level 3 engineering apprenticeship comprising of:
EAL NVQ Level 3 in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, City & Guilds 2330 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology at Level 3 and Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will combine on the job training with your employer with day release at college to develop further your knowledge of the theory aspects related to the electrical industry including: testing & inspection, motors (3 and single phase) electronic components, (3 and single phase), fault finding, instrumentation and electrical maintenance.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Each qualification within the apprenticeship framework is assessed through ongoing demonstration of your practical skills and theory assessments. Some units of the qualification require online external examinations. The NVQ3 element is assessed in the workplace and will require the production of a portfolio of work based evidence.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
After successful completion of the course you can progress onto higher education.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
For 16-18 year old students, apprenticeships are fully funded. For 19+ students, an employer contribution is required.
