What - Level 3 Aircraft Maintenance Apprenticeship
Where - Prospects College, Southend Airport, Southend
Who - Able and motivated 16-24 year olds, employed in the relevant industry sector who have already achieved a Level 2 apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance.
When - 3 Years (one day a week at college)
WHAT DO I NEED?
A Level 2 apprenticeship in aircraft maintenance. You must also be employed in the industry of your chosen subject.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?
Level 3 Engineering Apprenticeship comprising of:
NVQ Level 3 in Aeronautical Engineering, City & Guilds Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering at Level 3 and Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will combine on-the-job training with your employer with day release at college to further develop your knowledge of the theory aspects related to the aeronautical industry including: riveting, bench fitting, sheet metal fabrication, fasteners, hydraulics and avionics.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Each qualification within the apprenticeship framework is assessed through ongoing demonstration of your practical skills and theory assessments. Some units of the qualification require online external examinations. The NVQ3 element is assessed in the workplace and will require the production of a portfolio of work based evidence. Functional Skills courses are assessed by final written examination.
FURTHER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES?
After successful completion of the course you can progress onto higher education.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
For 16-18 year old students, apprenticeships are fully funded. For 19+ students, an employer contribution is required.
