REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING APPRENTICESHIP

 

What - Level 2 Apprenticeship

 

Where - Prospects College, Crompton Close, Baisldon

 

Who - Able and motivated 16-24 year olds, employed in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and capable of completing an apprenticeship at Level 2.

 

When - 18 months (Apprentices attend on a day release basis).  

 

WHAT DO I NEED?

Ideally, you should have three GCSEs at Grade A -  C including English and Maths. Literacy and numeracy skills can however be assessed at interview stage for applicants without  GCSEs. You must also be employed in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry  when you start an apprenticeship. If we introduce you to an employer, they may have additional criteria.

 

WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?

Level 2 Refrigeration and  Air Conditioning Apprenticeship comprising of:


City and Guilds Level 2 Award in F Gas and ODS Regulations (2079), City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (6127), City and Guilds Levle 2 NVQ in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 6087 - 02) and Key Skills qualification in English, Math and ICT.
 

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will develop a varitey of practical and theory skills relevant to the refrigeration and air conditioning apprenticeship and gain competencies to operate at craft level within the industry.

 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

Each qualification within the apprenticeship framework is assessed through ongoing demonstration of your practical skills and theory assessments. Some units of the qualification require online external examinations; the NVQ element is assessed in the workplace and will require the production of a portfolio of work-based evidence. Key Skills courses are assessed by a final written examination.

  

FURTHER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES?

After successful completion of the course you can progress to a higher level apprenticeship at Level 3 known as an Advanced Apprenticeship. Prospects College do not currently have a Level 3 offer but can advise on progression pathways with other providers.

 

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

For 16-18 year old students, apprenticeships are fully funded. For 19+ students, an employer contribution is required.
