PROGRAMME LED APPRENTICESHIP (CONSTRUCTION TRADES) IN PAINTING & DECORATING
What - Level 2 apprenticeship
Where - Prospects College, Southend
Who - Able and motivated 16-18 year olds who are capable of completing an apprenticeship at Level 2 but lack an employer. Programme Led Apprenticeships are available in Bricklaying, Carpentry & Joinery or Painting & Decorating.
When - 16 months (4 days a week attendance) then day release once suitable employment with a construction employer has been achieved.
WHAT DO I NEED?
Ideally, you should have two GCSEs at Grade C in English and Maths. Literacy and numeracy skills can however be assessed at interview stage for applicants without GCSEs.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?
Level 2 full construction apprenticeship comprising of five elements:
Construction Diploma Level 2, NVQ2, Key Skills x 2, Employment Rights & Responsibilities and CSCS test.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will combine practical learning in our workshops with theory sessions in your chosen vocational area. You will also attend health & safety training in order to pass the CSCS test. You will also work towards achieving Keys Skills in Communication and Application of Number at Level 1.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Each qualification within the apprenticeship framework is assessed through ongoing demonstration of your practical skills and theory assessments. Some units of the qualification require an online external assessment.
WHAT SUPPORT IS AVAILABLE WHILE I AM ON THE COURSE?
You will be allocated a personal tutor to help you throughout the course. In order to achieve the NVQ element of the apprenticeship you must become employed during the course of the programme. You will therefore attend job search sessions to assist you with this aim.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
After successful completion of the course you can progress to a higher level apprenticeship, Level 3, at Prospects College.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Most eligible students will not have to pay fees.
