MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS APPRENTICESHIP
What - Level 2 Apprenticeship
Where - Prospects College, Southend or Basildon
Who - Able and motivated 16-24 year olds, employed in the maintenance industry and capable of completing an apprenticeship at Level 2.
When - 16 months on day release basis.
WHAT DO I NEED?
Ideally, you should have three GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and Maths. Literacy and numeracy skills can however be assessed at interview stage for applicants without GCSEs. You must also be employed in the industry of your chosen subject.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?
Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations, NVQ2 Maintenance Operations and Functional Skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
The qualification is designed for young people who are interested in learning construction maintenance skills. You will develop a broad understanding of the construction industry including workplace safety, providing customer service, moving and handling resources as well as demonstrating practical skills in three areas: Painting & Decorating, Carpentry & Joinery and Plumbing.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Each qualification within the apprenticeship framework is assessed through ongoing demonstration of your practical skills and theory assessments. Some units of the qualification require an online external assessment. Functional Skills courses are assessed by a final written examination.
FURTHER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES?
After successful completion of the course you can progress to a higher level apprenticeship at Level 3.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
For 16-18 year old students apprenticeships are fully funded. For 19+ students an employer contribution is required.
