WHAT DO I NEED?
Ideally you should have 4
GCSE grades at A-C including English and Maths or the Level 1 Diploma in
Carpentry and Joinery.
WHAT QUALIFICATION WILL I RECEIVE?
Construction
Diploma Level 2 and Functional Skills qualification in English and Maths
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
You will combine practical
learning in the workshops with theory sessions.
Literacy and Numeracy skills will be taught separately and will be
imbedded in the vocational teaching. While
on the programme you will study a range of units including: Health and Safety,
Using and maintaining hand tools,Handling and storing materials, Communication and Estimating Quantities.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Each unit of the
qualification is assessed through ongoing demonstration of practical skills and
theory assignments. Some units of the
qualification require an online external assessment. Functional skills are assessed by a final
written examination.
FURTHER TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES?
After successful completion
of the course the learners can progress to an apprenticeship scheme with
employment or alternative construction courses.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
For
16 – 18 year olds, this programme is fully funded.
