COURSE SUMMARY:
These qualifications enable refrigeration engineers to meet legal requirements in relation to the qualifications required to work with Fluorinated Greenhouse Gasses, otherwise known as F Gasses. The F Gas Regulations have been put in place by DEFRA to help EC countries meet the Kyoto protocol targets


The aims of this qualification is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to work on the installation, service, maintenance, recovery and leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment that contains refrigerants classified as either fluorinated(F) gases or ozone depleting substances (ODS).


COURSE CONTENT:

·        Brazing

·        Nitrogen pressure testing

·        Handling, including the accidental release, of refrigerants

·        Fabrication of a brazed test piece and mechanical joints

·        Installation of the test piece

·        Visual inspection for leaks

·        A “Cut & Peel” examination of the test piece brazed joint

·         Determining strength test pressures

·        Conducting a strength test

·        Conducting a leak test

·        System evacuation

·        Recording the tests

·        Charging an Azeotropic refrigerant

·        Visual inspection for leaks

·        Determining the system correct refrigerant charge Indirect leak testing

·        Completing an F Gas record sheet

·        Connection and disconnection of service manifold sets with minimal discharge of refrigerant

·        Refrigerant recovery

·        Record keeping

·        Draining oil from a compressor


DURATION:                  

3 Days If individual demonstrates C&G 2078 or equivalent

5 Days if individual is new to the industry

Practical assessment & Multiple choice examination - GOLA
