Entry to Employment (e2e)
Entry to Employment is an exciting opportunity which will enable you to learn construction skills, improve your literacy and numeracy ability and boost your self confidence within a supportive and flexible environment.
e2e is a national vocational training programme aimed at 16-18 year olds which prepares them for employment and at Prospects College we offer an e2e programme specifically designed to equip you for a Construction Apprenticeship.
Who is it aimed at?
Young people between the ages of 16-18 who are not in education, employment or any other training and are interested in a career in the Construction Industry.
How is it delivered?
The programme combines vocational training in a practical environment with learning support and personal and social development workshops. You are required to attend for at least 30 hours a week for duration of 20 weeks.
What vocational training could you do?
You could choose from one of the following:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Painting and Decorating
Why should you do it?
The apprentice programme delivered by Prospects College will provide you with all the skills necessary to prepare you for employment or further education.
What could you do afterwards?
After successfully completing the e2e programme you should be ready to progress onto an Apprenticeship.
Programme Led Pathway (PLP)
Programme Led Pathway is a route into an Apprenticeship programme and are designed for young people aged 16-18 years who are committed to a career in the Construction Industry.
Eligible students will need to meet the literacy and numeracy requirements of an Apprenticeship. To develop their basic craft skills, prior to employment on an apprenticeship, these students would benefit from a period of training in the Construction centre.
How is it delivered?
Students are required to attend the Construction centre in Southend 4 days a week. The course duration is a maximum of 6 months.
What vocational training could you do?
You could choose from one of the following:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Painting and Decorating
- Plumbing
Why should you do it?
PLP is an opportunity for you to develop your construction craft skills and knowledge in a modern well equipped training centre, prior to transferring to an apprenticeship programme with an employer.
What could you do afterwards?
Upon successful completion of the PLP course you will transfer to an Employer Led Pathway - an employed Apprentice.
You will then attend College on a day release basis and spend the remaining four days learning with your employer. On completion of your Apprenticeship you may wish to continue training and progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.
Employer Led Pathways
An Employer Led Pathway is an Apprenticeship programme intended for young people in employment who wish to achieve a recognised qualification within their chosen vocation. Young people between the ages of 16-24 years, who are employed, are eligible to commence an apprenticeship programme.
How is it delivered?
Apprentices normally attend College on a day release basis for the duration of their apprenticeship programme.
What vocational training could you do?
You could choose from one of the following:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry and Joinery
- Painting and Decorating
- Plumbing
Why should you do it?
Apprenticeships are high quality, work based training programmes for young people who want to develop their prospects and career. Whilst on an Apprenticeship programme you can earn a wage, gain nationally recognised qualifications and develop your knowledge and key skills.
What could you do afterwards?
You could progress on an Advanced Apprenticeship or even a Foundation Degree.
